Every Thursday from 10.30am to 2pm, a group of talented young artisans from Ormiston Queensmill Academy set up a gift shop in Shepherds Bush Market called: Sunshine Studio. These post-16 students have been developing their skills in school within their therapeutic vocational workshop sessions. Within these workshops, each student is supported to craft unique handmade goods such as beautifully decorated bookmarks, handmade charms, lanterns, bath bombs, linen fresheners and delicate jewellery. Soon they will even be selling a wide variety of plants each grown and nurtured from seed.
This initiative is not just about selling, it is about supporting the students to build and develop their sense of confidence, independence, and real-world experience as well as sharing their unique talents with the wider community. With the support of the public through choosing to shop at meaningful vocational projects such as the Sunshine Studio market, students are able to continue to thrive and proudly showcase their creations which-in-turn empowers these young people to take steps towards a more independent future.
So, next time you are in Shepherds Bush, stop by the Sunshine Studio Market, where every purchase supports a brighter future!
